cool TV site

A while ago friend put me on to TV Links but I have only just got around to looking at it!
This needs a time warning!
Don’t gp to this site if you hav work to do or deadlines to meet.
The site has loads of TV programmes (such as all the episodes of Lost) that you can watch through streaming video …. cool!

But … you won’t catch me there!

Top Secret!!!

On my way to Ongar I stopped and took this pic as the irony of the sign made me laugh.
Must visit this place sometime as I’m told it’s interesting.

the weekend is over …

but the technology nightmare continues …
for some odd reason my pda stopped working this morning
again I feel naked and lost
thankfully it is all backed up on my laptop and phone so it is nowhere near as bad as losing a paper diary – but it does contain my GPS, Bible and gives me a quick and easy access to files rather than having to carry paper copies.
The biggest lost is the GPS which really is a life saver when driving around, particularly in London.
HP tell me that it may be the battery and so I have spent £11 on ordering one from Ebay which should be here tomorrow or Wednesday – but I am not convinced … but willing to risk £11!
Anyone with any PDA knowledge out there, or do you know a great place I can take it to be fixed?

changed to 42!

Thank you to the few people that took trouble to email me to remind me that I was masquerading as a young 41 year old when in fact I had in fact progressed into my 42nd year a full week week ago.

I need to admit I was in denial and trying to appear that important year younger – although many of you will no doubt agree that it is difficult to believe that I am as old as 42!

return to civilisation

Day 8
My Birthday – 42 today!
After lunch I’m going home!

Bad car day

I want to shout a rude word
I’m really peed off today!
what brings this on?
an inanimate lump of steel called my car!
Today it failed its MOT and needs a few things sorting, but the timescale between now and needing to go away to Easter school makes it tricky.
It’s more annoying as I have actually done all I could to prepare the car.
The parts don’t cost much, but the 3 hours labour will! If you have a spare more – pray for a generous and honest mechanic as my normal guy is booked for over 2 weeks.
It is,though, booked into a garage tomorrow but the whole process has pulled me away from things I needed to be doing today and pulls me away again tomorrow.
I also guess the positive it that the MOT guy spotted a corroded brake pipe which could have had bad consequences – just happens to be the longest and trickiest brake pipe on the car which will take ost of the 3 hours to fit!

It’s annoying that something actually so trivial can consume my thoughts and worries.
I should be able to think above!
I know I should and feel I should but …

I’m really peed off today!

Saying sorry

In the car today this ‘saying sorry’ has really been bugging me.
I wanted to be able to apologise yesterday for the part my ancestors played in the atrocity of slavery.
As I was driving it suddenly dawned on me that I don’t have to wait for Tony Blair to apologise as I can do this myself.
We say sorry is a blog where I have said sorry.
If you feel so inclined you can add your sorry too.

Do it, then fix it as you go.

Another Arden quote I like:

Too many people spend too much tme trying to perfect something before they actually do it. Instead of waiting for perfection, run with what you’ve got and fix it as you go.

Emerging book

I recommend this book!

Ian’s research dissertation has been adapted into a soft bound book that expressly looks at the sociological, theological & ecclesiological significance of Emerging & Fresh Expressions of Church from the viewpoint of the practitioners. The practitioners voice often goes unheard, so it is refreshing to hear UK voices as the focus. The book is now on sale for £10 plus p&p, and all the money goes towards funding Moot initiatives.

To create some awareness for the book – a number of initial talks have been organised as part of the national network of ‘blah’ gatherings of the UK Emerging Church scenes including a book launch in London. Further, Ian has created a new blog to promote the book & allow for dialogue with those interested or who have read the book. We are therefore keen to invite people to come to these talks or interact with the blog, as they see fit. The talks will aim to explore findings and their socio-cultural and theological significance arising out of praxis.

Buying the Book
The easiest way to purchase the book, is to do it online look under the publications & research section – cost is £10 plus postage & packaging. There will be copies for sale at the Blah discussions and the American tour.

New Blog
To support the book and its findings, Ian has set up a new blog – to promote the book and his reflections following publication. It is hoped that the blog will also become a place for debate, check it out here.

Book Tour
April 26th | Blah Manchester | time tbc
This will be the first talk commencing in Blah:Manchester. The Sanctus 1 community were a key constituency in the formation of the research and resultant book. Information on this can be found here. You will need to book places to attend (I think).

May 10th | Blah London & Book Launch | 6.30pm | The Horse Pub, Waterloo
This will be the second designated talk and the official book launch – again you will need to book places for this through the blah website. The Moot community were one of the four constituencies, so this event will celebrate the book and its launch. I will talk about the main findings of the book, and its implications. More info & booking here.

June 2nd – 20th | Emerging & Fresh Expressions Speaking Tour in the States
Ian with support from Aaron Kennedy from the Moot community, will start off in New York, and then go through to Pittsburgh, possibly Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Pasadena & Seattle to plug the book and associated findings. For further info on this – check out Ian’s blog or the Moot blog.
