You will remember I blogged a few days ago about petrol prices. Kev has started a pledge here so go along and sign it knowing we are all boycotting together. It’s also great to be able to welcome Kev to the blog world!
I have had a quick look at the pledge site and it is interesting to see what people will do if others will join them; I guess its a kind of solidarity thing. I will do this thing (meaning I want to do it) but only if 10/20/50/100 other people will pledge to do this as well. It’s kind of like saying, ‘Well I can’t make a big difference on my own (although I would disagree here!)but if 9 others do it with me, then we can really make something happen.
This is a cool site and will provide lots of illustration material for future talks on what people will do if others will join them. The pledges range from donations, to writing to MP’s, setting up events, and many others. I’ve been thinking about what sorts of pledges I would make and ask others to join in on…
– write to my MP every week regarding local issues of need if 50 others would write to the same MP too
– fast and pray once a month
– do a good deed for my neighbour every month
– do nothing for 20 mins each day to allow God to speak
– compliment 5 people every day
– encourage the ref at football matches with a helpful comment every 5 minutes
…. well, er, maybe not!
What would you pledge if you had the support of others?
