A childs hand

I saw this on Gordon’s blog. He found it on the BBC website

Like him I have been very affected by this incident. Maybe it’s because I used to be a teacher. Maybe it’s because my 3 children started school this week? Maybe it’s just due to the whole sense of waste I feel over so many young lives just gone.

On the BBC website today I see that Archbishop Rowan states his faith has been chalenged over this incident. I think it is so good to hear a church leader being honest rather than put on a face and try to justify stuff and protect his position.

This picture to me says a lot. A childs hand holding on to a little gold cross. A little glimmer of hope in a situaion of utter chaos and terror.

  1. It’s awfull what’s happened…just sat there crying while watching the tv yesterday, but couldn’t help but think, how often does this sort of thing happen when the tv cameras aren’t there…?So many atrocities happening around the world and we go on about our dily lives because we are so oblivious to it all. I wonder why the Archbishop’s faith has been challenged only by this incident? Why don’t we weep over these other insanities? Is it because we can’t run and hide in ignorance from what else is happening in the world? Surely he/we must know of what is happening in places like Zimbabwe, Sudan, Indonesia, North Korea..why now??Don’t want this to come accross as calous…just questioning??Malc
